His Excellency Mr ErlanIdrissov was born in 1959 in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1981 and 1982, respectively.

 

From 1992-1995 he served as the 1stSecretary of the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations. Prior to this, from 1995-1996 he was Head of the Department of America, Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. From 1996-1997 he served as Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan, and from 1997-1999 he was the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. From 1999-2002 he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

 

Between 2002 and 2007, Mr Idrissov served as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, non-resident Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Sweden, The Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Ireland.

 

Since July 2007, Mr Idrissov served as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United States of America and non-resident Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Federal Republic of Brazil.

 

From 2012-2017 he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

 

In February 2017, MrIdrissov was appointed the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

 

He is the author of numerous articles on Kazakhstan’s foreign policy issues and multilateral diplomacy.

 

He speaks English, French, Urdu and Hindi.
